FESTIVAL OF VORGARTENS
In May 2025, front gardens in Arbon, Weinfelden and Warth became small stages for contemporary art. Performances from dance, literature, music, performance and visual art shaped the festival. At the same time, the openness of residents and audiences created a strong dialogue. This is how the Festival of Vorgartens brought together artistic quality and social closeness.
The performances can be experienced again in the documentation:
Sonja Berta recorded the events on video, while Leon Faust accompanied them through photography. Their work shows the diversity of the neighbourhoods and gives the artistic contributions a lasting form.
After this successful first edition, 2026 will be a year of deeper research. The next edition of the Festival of Vorgartens will take place in 2027 in Thurgau. The festival reflects the character of a decentralized region and brings art directly to people—in cities and villages alike. Communities interested in hosting the festival are warmly invited to contact us.
New: Vorgarten Dominio
With Vorgarten Dominio, the research phase in 2026 is expanded through spatial movement. Starting in Thurgau, one front-garden performance takes place each month in a different single-family housing neighbourhood.
The term Dominio refers to a domino effect: a performance moves step by step from one place to the next, travelling eastwards through changing cultural landscapes and social contexts—from country to country.
For each location, portraits of the hosts and artists are created, as well as a video of the performance in the front garden. In this way, an ongoing documentation grows, connecting encounters, places and artistic processes.
